Potato Masala / Curry (with Jalapeno, Garlic, Basil n Lime)

This is your usual potato masala with a splash of flavor. Do you like basil??.. This is the first time I've tried adding fresh basil. I've used dry one from the spices section and it really is flavorful on pastas! Little goes long way!

Number of servings: 2 - 3
Potato - 3
Garlic - 2 big pods  (shredded or minced)
De-seeded Jalapeno - 1
Basil leaves - 2 big
Red Chilli powder
Turmeric powder

To temper:
Mustard seeds
Urad dal


  • Boil, peel and chop the potatoes
  • Heat oil in a wok splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add the minced garlic and jalapeno
  • Add the potatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt
  • Let it cook for a few minutes, add the chopped basil leaves. Then squeeze a dash of lime and switch off
I think the next time I'll make a paste kind with the jalapeno, basil, cilantro and lime and try it out...
