Celery kootu / celery dal - Day 20

Thanks to my friend Gayathri for introducing me to the concept of making kootu with celery :) I tweaked her recipe a little bit. Its real delicious!


Number of servings - 2-3
Ingredients:
Moong dal - 1/2 cup
Celery 5-6 sticks
Turmeric powder
Salt

To paste:
Coconut - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Jalapeno - 1/2 deseeded

To temper:
Mustard seeds
Urad dal
Red chilli - 1
Hing

Procedure:

  • Pressure cook the dal, celery and turmeric powder together to one whistle
  • In a kadai heat oil and splutter items to temper and add the pressure cooked items
  • Add the ground paste to this and salt and let everything cook together for few minutes
Note: You can always skip the paste part and add chilli powder instead
